Session Title: Leading Literacy Through People: Executing the Coaching and PLC Systems That Improve Literacy Results

Description: Coaching and PLCs are the two of the key enabling systems a school has to improve literacy outcomes, and both depend on leaders who can coach clearly, directly, and with confidence. In this practice based session, leaders step into the work of direct coaching to strengthen the instructional core across literacy classrooms and PLCs. Using authentic student work and classroom scenarios, participants learn to identify high leverage instructional needs, name precise teacher moves, and deliver feedback that builds skill and buy-in. Leaders will rehearse coaching conversations, practice anchoring feedback in evidence, and leave with a simple, repeatable coaching cycle that strengthens both PLCs and one-on-one coaching — the systems that ultimately move literacy results. This session is designed for principals, assistant principals, coaches, and any leader responsible for driving literacy results.

MLC provided practical strategies and fresh insights into fostering literacy development, while also connecting me with educators who share a passion for empowering students through reading and writing. It was an inspiring experience that deepened my understanding of effective, research-based literacy practices.
— 2025 MLC Attendee
The most valuable thing to me was addressing the literacy problem that we have as a nation. This conference was very informative in terms of what we can provide for our scholars and how to become better literacy instructors.

I had an incredible experience and feel deeply grateful for the chance to serve the dedicated leaders and teachers of Memphis and beyond. The commitment and passion of the educators I met left me both inspired and encouraged, and I am honored to have been part of such a meaningful event.
