What is the Memphis Literacy Institute?

Launched in 2021, MLI partners to train teachers, leaders, and support schools towards literacy excellence in teacher content-knowledge, curriculum, RTI, instructional practices, and literacy coaching–so that students taught by MLI-trained teachers and leaders would experience the dignity and equity of reading on grade level.

What is the Memphis Literacy Conference?

The Memphis Literacy Conference (MLC) brings local and national experts together for two days of practical, evidence-based learning. PreK–12 educators, including early childhood, elementary, secondary, English as a Second Language, and special education, gain tools they can apply immediately to accelerate student literacy outcomes.

Why does professional learning like MLC matter?

The MLC offers accessible, low-cost, high-quality professional learning that equips educators and school leaders with the knowledge and tools to accelerate literacy growth for their students and schools.

Why partner with us?

1. Reach the right audience: Connect with 400+ teachers, leaders, and education partners across the Mid-South region.

2. Invest in measurable impact: Your partnership supports evidence-based work that strengthens schools and accelerates literacy growth for students.

The most valuable thing to me was addressing the literacy problem that we have as a nation. This conference was very informative in terms of what we can provide for our scholars and how to become better literacy instructors.

MLC provided practical strategies and fresh insights into fostering literacy development, while also connecting me with educators who share a passion for empowering students through reading and writing. It was an inspiring experience that deepened my understanding of effective, research-based literacy practices.

I had an incredible experience and feel deeply grateful for the chance to serve the dedicated leaders and teachers of Memphis and beyond. The commitment and passion of the educators I met left me both inspired and encouraged, and I am honored to have been part of such a meaningful event.
